Due to the extension of the otter trapping season into the spring to run concurrent to the spring beaver season, we have had some issues with otter site validation coupons. It was decided to keep and use the 2024 site validation coupons through the end of this season. The decision was made not to change the dates because of the planned switch to a new electronic license system. We were aware that the dates on the coupons did not extend past January and encouraged trappers to write their harvest date on this license through the end of this season. Last week we started getting phone calls that the license center was only able to give out 2025 coupons. This automatically happens on March 1 and it can’t be changed.
Trappers obtaining site validation coupons for otter this season after March 1st will have 2025 coupons.
For the rest of this season (through May 15, 2025), we will advise trappers to use either the 2024 or the 2025 coupons through the end of the 2024-2025 season. The limit has not changed for this season.
