Spring 2024 Report

Numbers?? You’d be hard-pressed to perceive that fur prices are as terrible as they are when you examine the numbers regarding our MN Trapper Education Program as interest continually astounds me. In fact, in a single month, between today 02 04 24 back to only December 1st, 2023 alone, the online exam was taken 138 times. Going back to September 1st, 2023 a total of 620 have taken the exam with 100 failures. Keep in mind that these totals do not include in-person written exams taken as part of a traditional classroom setting but these are something less than 100 in total number year in and year out. So overall, we’re on par with most years as roughly half of those who complete the exam online also complete the entire program including the field training aspect required for license purchase.

2024 College Scholarships

An application and instructions for applying for scholarship consideration are included in this issue and may be reproduced at will for distribution. Please encourage any college-aged young people to apply between the June 20th and July 1 deadline. The revised application will also be available on our website.

Although the BOD will allocate scholarship amounts at the upcoming March meeting an additional scholarship has been created in memory of Steve Bayman by his family for $500 as well.
