MTA Scholarships have been awarded to the following individuals

(Mechanical Engineering)

$1000. Josiah Mueller Isle, MN,
(Agricultural Engineering)

$500. Delayna Rife Foley, MN
(Wildlife Biology)

We received 10 applications in total, however, three were eliminated from consideration as all three were pursuing advanced degrees (two master’s and one doctorate) or were unaffiliated with MTA and/or enrolled in programs outside the prescribed fields of study those outside MTA are restricted to be eligible for consideration. Our scholarship program is not open to those pursuing anything beyond a 4-year bachelor’s degree program.

The new trapper education graduate policy was enacted on January 1st to provide a consistent and uniform distribution of “graduate perks” including a copy of the NTA Trappers Handbook – a guide to better trapping, a free one year membership to MTA for those under 21 years of age, including the Trappers Post and the MTA Newsletter magazine in addition to a gift certificate/coupon redeemable for up to fifty dollars with select MN trapping supply vendors. Because this new policy requires significant expenditure in postage costs, I was provided with a discount electronic shipping service account that provides a much easier and practical manner to avoid substantial cash outlay.

To date, 80 shipments have gone out at an average cost of $7.18, for a current expense of $667.51 and a savings of $634.86 to MTA.
