Arnold was born on March 5, 1936, in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, the son of Velma and Henry Haak. He was an insurance salesman for many years. On September 5, 1970, he married Carol Engeseth, and shortly after began farming near Vergas, MN. Arnold was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Vergas, MN and also the Minnesota Trappers Association. He served as public relations director for the MTA for about 3 years. He also served as supervisor for Uda Township for about 5 years. Arnold died at his home on January 25, 1994.
