 Beginner Trapper Connection
*Designed for kids, youth and any age beginner
Beginner Trappers Connection in it's 6th season at Barnum 2021.
BTC is a program designed for kids, youth, or any age beginner.

Hard to believe that we launched the Beginner Trapper Connection program back in 2014. Had it not been for COVID forcing the cancellation of last summer’s convention this would have been the eighth year of the program. As a result, 2021 will officially be our seventh anniversary of BTC.

We have come a long way from presenting under a tree on a picnic table. Thanks to our organization and many supporters the kids now get a tent for cover, sound system and their own demo area. New and seasoned presenters make this a valuable experience for all.

Starting on Thursday at 1:00 Ryan Bishop will present a demo titled “Animal Identification”. The kids at this demo will be able to touch, feel and handle many pelts of animals native to Minnesota. In most cases this will be typical of all demos with a kid’s hands-on approach. A full listing is in this Newsletter, on the website and will be posted on the grounds the week of the convention. Fourteen demos are planned. Three will take on Thursday, six on Friday and five on Saturday. All demos will start in the same spot on the hour it is listed. I must note that these demos do not qualify for Trapper Certification Field Day credit. Participants seeking field certification credit must attend the land and water demos highlighted in the program.

What’s in it for kids? Fourteen different items. Every demo comes with a vendor sponsor. Once a presentation has been completed the instructor will hand out a certificate for kids to search out vendor and receive the item related that specific demo. This creates excitement and interaction amount the kids, instructors, and vendors.

As fellow trappers and MTA members take the time to thank presenters and vendor sponsors for their contribution to helping us grow the organization through time, knowledge, or resources.

Pass it On, Brian
