Vice President's Report - Tim Bauer
Tim Bauer Vice President of Minnesota Trappers Association
Hello to all. This report comes to you three days after our convention. The convention in Fergus went extremely well and we owe thanks to TJ Johnson for all his hard work in setting the convention up. I'd like to thank everyone who donated time and helped out at the convention. It seems that every year more and more folks are stepping up and helping at the convention and that makes me proud of our MTA. District 3 really stepped up and worked hard. A few highlights that stand out were the pot luck on Friday evening...that Strand crew knows how to put on a feed! The Sadie Hawkins race was a big hit and this year I was beat by my own son and another powerhouse by the name of Swedberg. We'll have to see what next year brings. Top notch demos, two full dealer buildings and a very successful benefit auction rounded out this year’s convention. Once again, thanks to all who gave their time.
District 1 will host next year’s convention in Chisholm and Ray has already hit the ground running with plans to make the MTA's 50th anniversary a big event. Besides the convention there will be many local attractions to see such as Iron World and other mine tours. Start making your plans to attend.
District 3 director, Butch Dykhoff, stepped down as director and Duane Schmitz is now the director of district 3. Butch has 23 or more years on the MTA board and his shoes will be hard to fill. Thank you for your years of service and dedication. I consider it an honor to call you my friend.
This will be my last year as your vice president, I will not be seeking re-election next year so have at ‘er boys. By then it will have been 10 years in the job and time for some new blood.
Well folks I've got to get this report in and head to the NTA convention so take care.
Tim
